Over time, there had been a handful of variations in saws that are manufactured for different purposes. In this regard, we got to talk about Sawzall in today’s post.
Sawzall is a kind of nickname of what we called reciprocating saws. If you are new to this, we have done the job of defining a Sawzall, explaining the mechanism, talking about its uses and a few relevant discussions. And everything we have found, are crafted right in this post.
Take a few minutes to go through the entire post, and educate yourself about Sawzall and their basics.
Let’s get going-
What Is A Sawzall?
The word Sawzall consists of two different words, and they are “Saw” and “All”. As you can see, these machines are popular for being an all in one saw which can be applied to all kind of materials.
The type of blade which is installed on this reciprocating saw may vary from purpose to purpose. But overall, it can cut through metal, plastic, plywood lumbar, cast iron and so on. Any kind of regular material you name, it will be quite fine with that. That’s how awesome a Sawzall is.
As you have seen just a while ago, the type of plate may vary a lot when it comes to reciprocating saws. But the blade can put into a range of 3 to 12 inches in terms of length.
The density of the blade is also another of the important factors. Usually, the range of blade teeth density lies within 6 teeth per inches to 18 teeth per inches. The requirement of teeth density is often related to the level of smoothness that you want in the cutting job.
How Does A Sawzall Cut?
Now let’s talk about the way a Sawzall cuts like. This saw can usually cut in a back and forth motion. You can find it’s a similarity with handsaws.
The reciprocating cutting action that it takes is produced by a crank, a swash plate, and a scotch yoke. The scotch yoke is a type of drive that is solely made for reciprocating cutting. There are other parts like a captive cam, a barrel cam, and a linear drive.
As a combination of all of these parts, a perfect, smooth and linear reciprocating cut take space.
Types of Sawzall and Their Applications:
You see, reciprocating saws are not the name of any particular design or type of saws. This term is applicable as a generic name of any of these four types of saws-
